The 1980s saw the legendary wines of Lafite return to their rightful place at the forefront of the Médoc's premier grand cru classés. Aristocratic, silky-structured wines with a never-ending finish. Never drunk young, the best vintages need a decade or so to develop fully. Typically 70% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 20% Merlot.

The founding father of the top Bordeaux châteaux, listed as one of the five premier grand cru classés of the Médoc although located on the outskirts of Bordeaux city. In its uniquely shaped bottle, it is lavishingly good in its best years and good value. Typically 45% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 18% Cabernet-Franc.
