Salon "S"

SALON "S"

Salon, a tiny house on the Côte de Blancs, produces what connoisseurs consider to be the quintessential Blanc de Blancs. In minuscule amounts (20,000 bottles a year, if at all) from over 40-year-old vines in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger (one of the greatest crus of the Côte de Blancs), Salon releases on average only about 3 times a decade.

Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou

CHATEAU DUCRU BEAUCAILLOU

The name of this estate comes from the former owner, Mr. Ducru, and a description of the land it comprises: “beau caillou” literally means “beautiful pebble”. Pebbles and small stones permit good drainage of the soil, and their presence in the soils of the Médoc contributes hugely to the quality of their wines.

Château Latour

CHATEAU LATOUR

The name comes from the 14th century tower on the estate, which was used by the English (Bordeaux was under English rule at this time) to fend off pirates. Latour is considered one of the most powerful, dense Pauillacs to be found and it needs to age. Tasting notes include leather and walnuts, enhanced by intense blackcurrant fruit.

Château Laffite Rothschild

CHATEAU LAFITE ROTHSCHILD

The definition of Pauillac’s style exists in this most classic and refined of all of Bordeaux’s wines. Less flashy than Mouton, less barnstorming than Latour, Lafite consistently produces one of the wines of the vintage year in, year out. In a great vintage it is a reasonable assumption that Lafite will have produced the greatest Cabernet Sauvignon in the whole Médoc and fashioned a wonderful, long-lived currant and cedar scented ethereal beauty.
